Mike Schuppe
I am the owner of Professional Theatre Resources. I have spent more than 25 years in the theatre as a managing director, actor, director, writer, and critic.
I received my Masters of Fine Arts in Directing at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago and have worked in various professional theatres in Chicago and Canada.
As the Managing Director at Chicago's award-winning Imagination Theater, I increased the earned income by 32% and increased individual donations by more than 1000% in one season. As the Business Manager at the Equity-Affiliated Apple Tree Theatre in Highland Park, IL I reduced administrative costs by more than 9% without cutting production expenses.
Through Professional Theatre Resources, I have successfully consulted with a number of organizations including Chicago Human Rhythm Project, ComedySportz, Theatre Hikes, Improv Playhouse, Powersuasion, Cobalt Theatre Ensemble, Master's Repertory, and Dance Ad Deum. I was also a sales representative for a box office company and helped install everything from web ticketing to full box office packages for more than 50 arts organizations throughout the U. S.
I also spent ten years in the communications department of a major medical association. There I honed my business skills in finance, customer service, teambuilding, effective communications, and vendor relations.
I think my combination of extensive experience and success in both theatre and business gives me a unique perspective on business operations in the arts.

A well-established dance company in Chicago. I helped them reorganize their financial operations a few years ago to help them produce more accurate, timely, and detailed information about the many projects they produce every year.
- ComedySportz Chicago
A well-established improvisational comedy theatre. We produced an Arts Roadmap for them.
- PowerSuasion
Provides live action training demonstrations to corporations in the Chicago area. We produced an Arts Roadmap for them and started working on a business model for one of their new ventures.
